amazon archives

As I’m sitting here working on a revision of the Church’s online catalog, I just perused a great summary of 10 reasons to not copy Amazon by GetElastic. Good advice for me, and just about everybody who’s not Amazon.

Check out amazonkindle, a new electronic reading product from Amazon. The design and experience look very, very impressive. This just might be the product that finally does to books what ipod has done to music. Kudos Amazon! I like where this is headed a lot.

The thing corners like it’s on rails

We’re on a secret mission to get our organization to adopt Ruby on Rails. Tadd is totally into it. John, Brian, Todd and I are into it. Northtemple.com and Crowdctrl are on rails. And now Amazon has put Rails through its ringer of security and scalability tests and adopted it for a new project. Are there still arguments against Rails? I’d just be happy if a few of my developers had heard of it.

If you haven’t experienced the joy and productivity that is Ruby on Rails, take it for a spin. Even designers (and managers!) can do it!
