Finally, wine for Mormons. First Blush, juice made from wine grapes (yes, it’s non-alcoholic), with a nice winey description: featuring “the unique, complex flavors of Merlot, Cabernet, Chardonnay and Syrah grapes.” I know someone here will have a problem with this, but check the design! Love the rich colors of the juice, which the design plays very well with.

Maybe now I can finally make good on my threat to start drinking..

Avoid the appearance of evil! Just joking…but someone had to call you on it! This is cool, I can finally understand what my non-LDS coworkers are saying about their merlot or chardonnay. Wait, that will just lead to more questions….

So, what do actual wine lovers think about this juice? Is it a joke like Near Beer? I’ve often thought that as a follower of the Word of Wisdom, I can’t ever really be a serious foodie or chef, because I don’t really know or get wine.

Uh, no retail carriers of this product in Utah? Had to send their customer service dept. an email on the subject that said, “duh!”

Surely you are aware that various non-alcoholic “wine” and “champagne” products have been on the market for years (and not in steriod-induced Snapple bottles, either!). We have a great winery here in west Michigan that produces a tasty line of sparkling grape juices (St. Julian Winery).

I’d be interested in trying it, especially if it doesn’t taste fermented.

I have actually tried some now. It does not taste fermented. Only got one flavor for the experiment but may try other flavors now.
