Design techniques

I liked this tidbit from Jeff Veen when i heard it at the Future of Web Apps conference today:

“use design techniques to help people engage with data”

More context to follow, but the gist of it lies in the ability of design to add meaning and understandibility to raw data.

Interesting point from Flickr’s Cal Henderson (from FOWA)—Flickr has 6 developers and no QA. Each developer is in charge of testing their own code (within a shared dev environment) and is then in charge of releasing it. And it works. More soon.

“Simple things should be simple, and complex things should be possible”

This Future of Web Apps conference is the most professionally produced conference I’ve attended. So well done, with tons of nice touches. Leagues ahead of other, unnamed (Austin) conferences. Carson Systems has some really nice things going. More to come.
